This screenprint pushes back on what it means to be a man or woman. The silhouette depicts a phoenix rising from the train speeding past the traditional male bust put on a pedestal. In this pink image sits stereotypically masculine activities and interests including an army figure, planes, and cars. This is juxtaposed by an interest in stereotypically feminine activities like dresses and baby dolls. This reflects on my journey in life blending these together to create my unique interests and outlooks on like. Gender is an idea we constructed and we should be able to express ourselves without fear of hatred from those who think we need to stick to stereotypically defined roles.
